I am a PhD student in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh, supervised by Caroline Heycock, Jennifer Smith (University of Glasgow) and Ronnie Cann.

My research is broadly in generative grammar and dialect syntax: more specifically, my PhD research looks at the relationship between syntax and pragmatics, biases and "negation" in constructions with interrogative syntax, using data gathered from the Shetland dialect of Scots, and Glasgow Scots.

I am also interested in processes of morphosyntactic change, word order phenomena, and the syntax of imperatives, as well as methodologies for dialect syntax research.

I am the chair of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain student committee.

I am funded by the Scottish Graduate School for the Arts and Humanities.
