I recently defended my PhD, entitled "Questions, biases and 'negation': Evidence from Scots varieties", at the University of Edinburgh, which was supervised by Caroline Heycock, Jennifer Smith and Ronnie Cann.
My research is broadly in generative grammar and dialect syntax. My PhD investigated non-canonical questions at the syntax/pragmatics interface using data from Glasgow Scots and the Shetland dialect of Scots; other syntactic interests include imperatives, demonstratives, and agreement. I'm also interested in processes of morphosyntactic change, and developing methodologies for dialect syntax research.
I'm the chair of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain student committee.
